What to check the day an electrical order arrives

Electrical items are easy to return when unused and impossible once installed and marked. A few minutes at the door settles it.

Before you install anything

  1. Compare the base type, voltage and wattage on the item with the product page.
  2. Check the glass or housing for cracks and the pins or thread for bending.
  3. Test the item in a fitting you know works, before wiring anything permanent.
  4. Keep the box and any inserts until you are sure.

If it does not light

Try a second known-good fitting before concluding the item is faulty — a dead fitting looks exactly like a dead bulb. If it still does not work, photograph the item and its packaging and contact us within the damaged-item window on our Return & Refund Policy page.

What is not a fault

A slight difference in shade between two bulbs of the same stated kelvin is within normal manufacturing variation. A bulb that seems dimmer than expected is usually a lumen expectation, not a defect — check the figure on the page.

Installation

We do not install and we do not advise on wiring. Anything connected to mains should be fitted by a qualified electrician.
